Proboscis monkey (Nasalis Larvatus) is a type of primate that is spread in mangrove forests, swamps and coastal forests. Its distinctive feature is the nose, so it is easily recognized among other primates. Proboscis monkeys are arboreal animals, which live in the tree canopy. The main food is the shoots of mangrove leaves and flowers, as well as insects and fruit.

In the last 20 years, the proboscis monkey population has decreased by up to 90% due to illegal fishing activities, water pollution, and loss of habitat due to deforestation. Proboscis monkeys are placed in the status of endangered (endangered) on the IUCN red list. This species is protected by both world organizations and the Indonesian government.

A small group of proboscis monkeys is also found in the mangrove forest of PT Tunas Inti Abadi (TIA) covering an area of +/- 5 ha and is vulnerable to extinction. Conservation efforts that have been carried out by TIA include caring for and embroidering local plants and mangrove species that can serve as habitat and food sources for proboscis monkeys.

The biodiversity in the proboscis monkey's habitat also has the potential to open up new jobs for local people through the development of the vegetable material industry. Besides that, it can also be utilized in the development of research and new discoveries for the biopharmaceutical industry.
