Removing the 'Assumption' of Mining Business as an Unsustainable Business
Nowadays, the mining business is always associated with activities that damage the environment. The perception of the mining business as a business that inevitably ignores the principles of sustainability is firmly entrenched and embedded in the minds of ordinary people. In fact, business actors in this field actually have a high commitment in promoting sustainable practices in their operational activities.
One tangible manifestation of this commitment is contained in the concept of good mining practice. Good mining practice has always been an obligation that must be followed from the exploration, mining, to processing stages. One of the important elements in implementing good mining practice is the obligation of mining companies to be able to control and maintain environmental functions around the operating area. In other words, every mining activity carried out will continue to observe to and prioritize environmental sustainability. The increasing awareness of mining companies today is to be more concerned with environmental sustainability which has given birth to a concept called green mining.
In addition, various technologies have also been developed to ensure a more sustainable and environmentally friendly use of coal, including clean coal, green coal and carbon capture technology in order to achieve a more sustainable future. So that in the future, together with new and renewable energies such as sun, wind, geothermal, water, bioenergy, ocean waves, and others, coal is expected to continue to support the progress of mankind to build civilization and a better future for generations.
