PT Sanggar Sarana Baja (SSB), a company in the engineering and manufacturing services sector, has initiated the Machining Development Program (MDP). This initiative is part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program aimed at communities within its operational areas.

"The MDP participants are encouraged to absorb as much knowledge as possible from mentors and utilize MDP as a foundation to work and compete in the field," said SSB Director Johan Budisusetija in Jakarta recently.

Furthermore, Johan added that a total of 16 MDP participants have successfully completed the training and progressed to the On The Job Training (OJT) phase. Before entering the workforce, participants are required to obtain a certificate of achievement demonstrating their excellent skills.

The MDP participants come from various regions in Kalimantan such as Balikpapan, Samarinda, and Sebamban. They were equipped with training in CNC machine operation, portable line boring machine operation, and lathe machine operation. Moving forward, it is hoped that participants' skills will be honed to compete effectively in the job market.

"Congratulations to the 16 MDP participants who have successfully completed the training. These participants have now entered the OJT phase to apply their acquired knowledge and refine their soft skills. We hope their independence and discipline will be tested so they are ready to face challenges in the workforce," Johan said.

One of the beneficiaries of the MDP, Yogi Nur Hasyim, expressed benefits related to workplace safety and the importance of using machines according to established standards. "MDP has provided me with a lot of knowledge about industrial processes, from the machines used to measurement tools and many other insights gained from participating in the MDP program. I am proud to be part of this program," said Yogi.

Similarly, Adriansyah stated that his insights and skills have expanded significantly after participating in the MDP. Thanks to the training provided, this native of Sebamban is now capable of operating machines and welding. "Certainly, my knowledge and skills have increased because I now understand measurement tools, lathe machines, welding, and more. Previously, I had no idea about the process sequence, but now I am more knowledgeable and capable of operating machines," he said.

It is worth noting that the MDP has conducted a series of activities across several regions. OJT has been conducted from December 17, 2023, to January 17, 2024, at SSB Balikpapan, SSB Sebamban, and SSB Samarinda.
